Reflect and Connect
What I like best about using an ePortfolio can be best summed up in an excerpt taken from eduscapes.com, a professional learning resource for teachers: Electronic Portfolios are a creative means of organizing, summarizing, and sharing artifacts, information, and ideas about teaching and/or learning, along with personal and professional growth. The reflective process of portfolio development can be as important as the final product. In many cases, they are used as part of faculty and student evaluation along with other assessment tools such as standardized tests. A portfolio is a sampling of the breadth and depth of a person's work conveying the range of abilities, attitudes, experiences, and achievements.
The e-portfolio connects my role and work as DD by allowing for continuous sharing of the latest educational technology innovations with my students and colleagues. It is up to me to equip my students with the 21st Century skills necessary to become the total package of success in a global society and a digital portfolio is the best way to accomplish these goals.
